Upcoming Show: “My Head in the Clouds” at Quirk Gallery’s Pink Gallery

Wide abstract painting

During my residency at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, I took time to return to what I think of as my academic work. I began these explorations in graduate school as a way to translate my digital experience into physical form. Having worked as a digital illustrator for textbooks, I wanted to make physical artwork again.

In its latest iteration, this work takes the form of paint suspended between layers of clear gel on Yupo paper and canvas. The pieces have begun to remind me of sound, and I am eager to investigate that connection further. I look forward to sharing these works with you in person at Quirk Gallery’s Pink Gallery, beginning Thursday, April 16, with an opening reception from 5 – 7 pm. You’re invited!

“My Head in the Clouds” is a show featuring work created in three distinct ways. The unifying theme is a light, atmospheric quality and a somewhat detached feeling from reality. In addition to the abstracts above, whimsical illustrations and heavily textured abstract paintings on canvas will also be included. Stay tuned for a complete listing of the works on Quirk Gallery’s website.

Please reach out if you would like more images or information. Thank you!

Show dates, April 16 – May 9
